Parnevik poised to quit
Former European Ryder Cup player Jesper Parnevik is facing discount golf clubs retirement after undergoing surgery on a back injury.
The Florida-based Swede has been told that he requires another taylormade r9 driver operation to undergo joint fusion that would almost certainly end his career.
The 44-year-old had played four tournaments in America this year but had to withdraw from the Northern Trust Open last week after callaway x-22 irons shooting an opening 68.
Parnevik, who finished second in the Open Championship in 1994, had surgery on a hip injury last year in a bid to prolong his ailing career.
"I'll have to hope for a miracle if there's going to be any more competitive titleist ap2 irons golf," said the Swede, who will visit a specialist in Detroit next week before deciding whether to go ahead with another operation.
Parnevik took part in three Ryder Cup matches, his last appearance coming in Europe's taylormade r7 cgb max Irons victory at The Belfry in 2002.
